In order to make preparations for a project properly it's necessary to make a lot of sketches and drawings of a desirable situation. In former days the designers made hand drawn sketches, nowadays most of the time the drawings are computer manufactured. Some popular programmes are AutoCAD (to make plans) and Studio VIZ (to make three-dimensional drawings).
